Marian Barnett came to Manitoulin Island as a "cottager" in 1990, and later became a permanent resident. After teaching Art Studies to children and teens for many years, she pursued her love of drawing and painting in earnest as a retiree.

Watercolour, consistently her medium of choice, never fails to amaze and surprise in its power to capture the moods and colours of the La Cloche and North Channel areas.

Marian has enjoyed painting en plein air with other local artists at favourite Island locations. Flowers and still life are among her subjects too. Her work appears annually in MFAA exhibits, and often in the La Cloche Art Show.
