Greetings from Willisville and Willisville Mountain.

It's only five months until opening day of the Willisville Mountain Project, on Saturday, July 25, at the Whitefish Falls Park and Community Center.

The exhibit, showcasing the work of 45 artists, will open in the Park with performances by Cesar Forero, J. Nichole Noel and Juno award winner Ian Tamblyn. There will also be readings by Vera Constantineau, Emily De Angelis and Margo Little along with the presentation of installation art by Tony Cooper, Michael Cywink, Cesar Forero and Christopher Varady-Szabo.

Additional artists exhibiting their art in the Community Centre from July 25 until August 9 include Lise Aubin-Arseneau, Brian Atyeo, Christi Belcourt, Beth Bouffard, Kathy Browning, Jon Butler, Jill Campbell, Merle Canjar, RoseMarie Condon, Carol Currie, Laura Starbuck Dildine, Karen Dominick, Nick Dubecki, Richard Edwards, Sophie Anne Edwards, Martin Foley, David French, Paul Gauthier, Lucie Idlout, Linda Kauppi, John Knox, Laura Landers, Marie-Lou MacDonald, Alfredo Marin-Carle, Irvin Elwood Marshall, Lance Migwans, Wayne Peltier, Taimi Poldmaa, David Read, Pierre Sabourin, Marlies Schoenefeld, Sylvia Simpson, Glenna Treasure, Sarah Warburton and Linda Williamson. Visit www.willisvillemountain.com for complete information about the artists and examples of their work.

The 45 artists have produced new work over the past year inspired by Willisville Mountain. Willisville Mountain is located in the heart of the La Cloche Mountain range of Northern Ontario, one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world. It is a landscape celebrated by Canadian artists, made famous by the paintings and photographs of artists including Franklin Carmichael, A.Y. Jackson, A.J. Casson, Joachim Gauthier, Frederick Banting, York Wilson, Bruno Cavallo and Ivan Wheale to name just a few. It is estimated that hundreds of artistic images by dozens of artists have been created that portray, render and celebrate this particular site.

The Willisville Mountain Project will tour to galleries in Kirkland Lake, Sudbury and Sheguiandah in 2010.

Whitefish Falls is located 18 km south of Espanola and 1 km south of Willisville Mountain on Highway 6. Admission is free to the opening performances and exhibits.
